What Is the
Superinvestor
100?

Each year, we identify and celebrate 100 investors whose ideas, frameworks, and track records have shaped how the world thinks about capital allocation. This is not a ranking — it is a recognition of thought leadership.

Our Philosophy

The Superinvestor 100 is inspired by Warren Buffett's famous 1984 essay, "The Superinvestors of Graham-and-Doddsville," in which he argued that a disproportionate number of successful investors shared a common intellectual framework rooted in value investing principles.

Our list expands on this concept. While we honor the value investing tradition, we recognize that thought leadership in investing takes many forms. Macro visionaries who anticipate global shifts. Activist investors who unlock value through engagement. Quantitative pioneers who harness data in novel ways. Growth investors who identify the companies reshaping our world.

What unites every investor on this list is not a single methodology but a commitment to rigorous, independent thinking and a track record of influence that extends beyond mere returns. These are the minds that other investors study, quote, and learn from.

Methodology

How We Select
the 100

01

Intellectual Contribution

Has the investor contributed original frameworks, mental models, or analytical approaches that have advanced the practice of investing?

02

Track Record

Does the investor have a demonstrated history of superior risk-adjusted returns over a meaningful time period?

03

Influence & Reach

Are other investors, allocators, and market participants actively studying and learning from this investor's approach?

04

Transparency

Does the investor share their thinking through letters, interviews, books, or public filings in a way that educates the broader community?

05

Integrity

Has the investor maintained high ethical standards and acted as a responsible steward of capital throughout their career?

06

Enduring Relevance

Are the investor's ideas and approaches still relevant and applicable to today's markets, regardless of when they were developed?

Not a Ranking.
A Recognition.

We deliberately do not rank the investors on this list. Comparing a macro trader to a value investor, or an activist to a quantitative fund manager, would be both meaningless and misleading. Each investor on the Superinvestor 100 has earned their place through excellence in their own domain.

You are either on the list or you are not. Within the list, all 100 investors stand as equals — recognized for their unique contributions to the art and science of investing.
